e-Commerce/Marketing Training for SMEs/Exporters in Sri Lanka

Objective

The e-commerce/marketing training was designed to offer out of the box solutions to e-commerce for those who are already in business but lacking skills/knowledge to do e-commerce or to those who have already websites, but don’t know how to do marketing. It also offered opportunity to new entrants wishing to launch their own e-commerce store. The three days practically oriented training has proved to be very helpful in providing knowledge mainly in the following four areas for the participants:

  • Understanding the tools needed for e-commerce and learning how to choose appropriate tools at low cost.
  • Understanding payment gateways and opportunities and alternatives available in each country.
  • Acquiring skills using search engine optimization process and how to optimize their own websites using various search engines.
  • Understanding inbound marketing techniques and their applications to their business including social media marketing.

Expected outcome

This three days’ intensive practical oriented training will give participants insights on launching their  own e-commerce store (B2C/B2B) and help them to set up their web store ready to be launched on conclusion of training.

First 02 training programmes conducted in Colombo

An eCommerce Marketing Training Program for 40 Women Entrepreneurs was conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce supported by SAARC Trade Promotion Network & GIZ in two training sessions at the Chamber auditorium from 16 June to 21 June 2014. The intensive practical oriented training programs demonstrated on how to use eCommerce/marketing tools for the benefit of their businesses, insights on launching their own e-commerce store (B2C – Business to Customer/B2B -Business to Business) and help to set up their own web store ready for launch right after the training. They were awarded with a Certificate at the end of the training.

2nd Batch

National Chamber Conducts Training Programs for SMEs/Exporters in the regions

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka has joined hands with Australia Awards Scope Global to support Small and Medium Entrepreneurs by conducting 3 day training programs on e-commerce and marketing , for batches of 20 each in the provinces.

The program specially focuses on differently able women entrepreneurs.

1st e-commerce Training Program conducted in the Eastern Province

The initial program in this series was held in Trincomalee from 26 to 28 January 2016 with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Trincomalee. A certificate was issued at the end of the 3 day program to all participants. This e-commerce training program will help the SMEs to start their own website on completion of their training and expand their businesses further.

2nd e-commerce Training Program conducted in the North Central Province

The 3 day e-commerce Training Programme was conducted for the 2nd time in association with the Anuradapura Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 25 to 27 February 2016 in Anuradhapura, for a batch of 20 women entrepreneurs including differently able persons.

3rd e-commerce Training Program conducted in the Northern Province

The 3 day e-commerce Training Programme was conducted for the 3rd time in association with the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yalpanam from 5 April to 7 April 2016 in Jaffna, for a batch of 20 women entrepreneurs including differently able persons.
